Tunisia
Nine suspected terrorists have been arrested from two hideouts in the country, Tunisian officials say.
They were picked up during a recent operation at the Kef Region near the border with Algeria while conducting trials in order to perpetrate attacks.
The date of the operation has not been made known by officials.
Security sources revealed that one group was preparing to attack shopping centres and headquarters of political parties while the second was mainly in charge of financial assistance.
The suspects had pledged allegiance to Okba Ibn Nafaa, a group linked to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
Tunisia has been battling terrorist groups since the country’s uprising in 2011.
The jihadists have succeeded in eliminating over a hundred soldiers and policemen.
There are several Tunisians working with extremist organisations in Iraq, Syria and in neighboring Libya, security sources say.
